MAHENDRA
SRI KANTA PERERA.
Currently,
the artist named 'Mahendra Sri Kantha Perera' can be introduced as the most
talented theater artist of Sri Lanka, known as 'Dear Disapamok'. Also, he can
be called as a character who is loved and respected by everyone, young and old,
in Sri Lanka. He was born on August 17, 1956, in the area of Mt. Sri Lanka as
the youngest of the family. He first studied at Highlands College, Nugegoda.
Later, he went to Vidyakara Vidyalaya, Maharagama and Thurston College,
Colombo.
Mahendra
Sri Kanta Perera's contribution to the media industry in Sri Lanka can be
recognized through his cinematography, stage play and television industry.
Mahendra Perera, a talented actor, is a genius actor living in Sri Lanka. His
contribution to cinema and this entire media industry for more than two decades
is immense. He has contributed to more than eighty-four films. Mahendra Perera
is a professional actor, art director and assistant director who dedicated his
life to the media industry. He has appeared in several stage plays including ‘Eth
Ahimi Jeevita’, ‘Sargeant Nallathambi’. His television debut was through
'Tharadevi'. Since then, he has acted in memorable telenovelas such as ‘White
and Black’, ‘Niyan Ukussa’, ‘Dhavala Rathriya’, Diyaketa Pahana’, ‘Handawila
Sakmana’ and ‘Golu thaththa’.
However,
his most notable medium is cinema. He continued to be one of the most
influential film actors in Sinhala cinema. Dominated in many blockbuster movies
like ‘Sihina Deshayen’, ‘Aswesuma’, ‘Bahubuthayo’, ‘Sudu-Asu’, ‘Arumosam Vehi’,
‘Mille Soyaa’, ‘No Address’ and ‘Gindari’. Apart from this, he also worked as
the art director of the films 'Juliet's Role' and 'Papuru Valalu'. All these
roles of his are presented through media to entertain the people. But,
according to my opinion, the greatest contribution he has made to the Sri
Lankan media industry is the ‘Mahendra Perera Actors Studio’ which he runs.
Because of that, today the character of Mahendra Perera is known as 'Dear
Disapamok'. Mahendra Sri Kanta Perera received several national awards.
